Video flashes on and off in Ubuntu Kbuntu Xbuntu 32 and 64 bit

Asked by ArtVoigt

I have a PC with the following hardware and no version of Ubuntu runs without the video flashing on and off.
Is Ubuntu not compatible with HP Pavillion's? They install fine except that they are unusable due to the screen going blank every few seconds.

Tried 64 and 32 bit versions of Ubuntu, Kbuntu and Xbunto. All the same.

Hello,

If you are using the open drivers (installed by default), you should try the one provided by ATI, it has more features. Other than that, I have no idea.

I hope it helps,
