Hardy ati radeon xpress 200 slow performance

Asked by andy_w

Hi all,
Upgrading Gutsy to Hardy reduces my "glxgears" from 2000+ fps to 170-ish. Gfx chip is ATI Radeon Xpress 200. Have tried de-selecting the restricted driver but requires failsafe reboot; followed by reloading the restricted driver to obtain a Gnome desktop. BTW xorg.conf shows fglrx in use for both releases, so not sure what's changed.
Any ideas please?
Regards,
Andy.

I heard about bug-fixing in ati drivers git for RS480 and this should improve 3d performances with those cards.. waiting for ubuntu pkg
