black screen when trying Pangolin 12-04

Hello,
  I have an imac with a ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphic card.
  I burned an ubuntu 12-04 CD to try it.
  But it is not working. I always endup with a black screen.
  Searching on the internet I found boot options to try:
  nomodeset, all_generic_ide=1, xforcevesa, but nothing can
  fix my problem.
  Please help me I want pangolin to work on my computer !!!

try the boot option:

radeon.nomodeset=1

or alternatively, use the alternate ISO and install in text mode.

radeon.blacklist=1

Hi,

 I was booting with the option nomodeset/radeon.nomodeset (thank you actionparsnip) only
or the option xforcevesa only.
 It works with both of them: nomodeset xforcevesa.

  And now I go back playing with pangolin ...
