Installing ATI Radeon HD 4870 Driver

Asked by André Filipe

Hi,

I started using Ubunto 11.10 some weeks ago, and i'm experiencing some problems with my graphic (1x ATI Radeon HD 4870), not a real problem, but experiencing some "lag" while using the full screen feature in any video player, or even when playing some Blue Ray files...

I downloaded the ATI drivers, and got this file: amd-driver-installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run

I dont really know what to do with him... I searched a lot ot things on how to install ATI Drivers, but there are so many ways, using such different tools, that i really get lost...

I would appreciate if someone help me to install those drivers, so my computer run smooth!

Atention: I'm not a advanced user, so any information you'll need, or any tip you give me, please, specify which command should i use to get it or make it!

Really appreciate it!

If you use the additional drivers app, you can install the driver that way. You don't need to manually download the driver.

In dash, search for:

additional drivers

It will show. Or you can run:

gksudo jockey

Can you help with this problem?
