ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 (driver help)

Asked by Martin Sooväli

Hi! I'm new in Ubuntu! I have a problem with my graphic driver.

I have hp nc8230. It uses ati mobility radeon x600, but my system doesn't find any graphic drivers. In windows xp it worked fine, i used this driver: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=447338&prodNameId=447352&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=PSG_I23622-108820

Any way to install the same driver on ubuntu or any other drivers?

Thanks

windows is a completely different OS with completely different support, so the fact it works there ok is of zero value.

can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C display; lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks

The driver is already installed. What you're referring to is "additional drivers" and none exist for this card.

andrea, please post output of:
glxinfo (you may have to install this utility with the command "sudo apt-get install mesa-utils"
or maybe attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log if you're uncomfortable with terminal

Can you help with this problem?
