dark screen after mistaken setting up monitor

Asked by sp.

After my mistake setting up brightness screen under system setup, screen becomes DARK and I can NOT see anything on screen.
This happens once I unintentionally move slide bar from bright to completely dark on far left slide and never get it back on normal screen again even I reboot my comp. I am sure that the system is working ok. Since I can see ubuntu logo during system boot and login sound and then completely dark screen.
How can I reset the system to the point that it was before?

It's nothing to do with Ubuntu. You can run Windows on your system and it will not change the make and model of the hardware. Isit a Dell? Is it an EEE PC? Is it Compaq? This does not change when you install a different OS.

I am using Acer Aspire 4540 notebook.
When I use Winodws, it works ok but not with ubuntu.

Ok then the make and model of the system is Acer Aspire 4540. What Windows does or doesn't do is of no consequence to Ubuntu. You have simply set your screen brightness too low.

Ok boot the OS and get to the login screen (or desktop if you have autologin activated) and press CTRL+ALT+F1

Log in there (requires typing of username and password and may happen in the dark too).

Does it log in at CLI in the lowered brightness too?

After login via ctl+alt+f1, I can see text but not GUI mode.

My solution is 1. login ubuntu with safemode which allows me to playaround and 2. download AMD Catalyst Control Center for resetting back to the point where it was before. Now it is normal.
