ATI Mobility HD5650 on HP Pavilion dv6-3035ec driver problem

Asked by Jakub Adamus

Hi.
I have problems with my graphic card on my notebook. I have installed latest Ubuntu and it has problems to start X-server.
It can start only in failsafe mode - but sometimes it has problems also in failsafe. I don't understand why.
My notebook has 2 switchable graphics card. Maybe this is problem.
I don't need 3D acceleration. I just want to have reliably system with graphic environment.
Is there any way to make it running. I can use integrated Intel graphic card but I don't know how to edit xorg.conf to make it possible.

Thank you.
But I have problem with vgaswitcheroo now.
Kernel is compiled with vgaswitcheroo. But I can't start it. I modified GRUB menu as described.
But the directory vgaswitcheroo in /sys/kernel/debug/ still doesn't exists.

Verify BIOS if there is an option 'Hybrid Graphics' to enable or disable.
