problem with display card

Asked by achapp

I am running natty 32 bit on my Hp pavilon laptop. the laptop has a ati mobiity radeon card . The installation everything was smooth . But sometimes during bootup the screen goes off and stays there . The tty consoles works during this time , but the xwindow doesnt comes up . when I checked to see the Vga controller using the command "lspci -nn | grep VGA"(which i got from one of the webpages while checking this issue ) , the result I got is as follows

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Manhattan [Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series] [1002:68e0]

It shows 2 VGA controller . Is that the problem why I am getting this problem during bootup. Kindly help me out

There is a known bug which occurs when combining intel and radeon drivers:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/775462

If you're not using both cards, try switching the onboard chip off in your BIOS.

Can you help with this problem?
