PC randomly freezing with black screen

Asked by Laszlo Demeter

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and I've seen that my laptop is freezing completely and the unique way to start it is reseting it from the power button.
My video card is ATI Radeon Hd3200, processor AMD Turion Dual Core

Compiz enabled (same problem without compiz also)
ATI drivers installed from the official website (same problem with default drivers)
FGLRX disabled (again, same problem with it enabled)

Most of time is crashing when I'm checking something in flash, in browser, like a facebook game, for example.

In the crashing moments the syslog is reporting this:

It's a known bug, it will be fixed with a kernel update soon.

In the bug I linked there's a workaround for this. A new kernel in the pre proposed repository. Install it and it might give you a usable system right away.
