Did you run:

sudo aticonfig --initial -f

?

Have you followed the installation guide with respect to this paragraph:

You MUST make sure that the standard radeon drivers are not installed. If you don't do this, the open-source radeon driver may be used instead of the newly-installed Catalyst driver, even if the Catalyst driver is correctly installed. This may cause the error message "aticonfig: No supported adapters detected":

$ sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-radeon

I have tried both
user@user-MS-7577:~$ sudo aticonfig --initial -f
[sudo] password for user:
aticonfig: No supported adapters detected

and
user @ user-MS-7577: ~ $ sudo apt-get remove - purge xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Reading package lists ... Finished
Building dependency tree
Reading state information ... Finished
Package xserver-xorg-video-radeon is not installed, so it is not deleted
0 upgrade, 0 to newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
still no luck and I have tried it before

What looks strange to me is that "sudo lshw -C display" shows

description: VGA compatible controller
product: ATI Technologies Inc
vendor: ATI Technologies Inc

It seems that ubuntu cannot identify your video adapter at all, which then will most probably have the consequence that aticonfig will not identify that unindentified adapter as one that the new driver can use.

Can you run the command lspci

Sorry to say, but I do not have any idea how to proceed.

I just can conclude that both lshw and lspci apparently do not know much details about your graphic card.

I do not know if a graphic card can be too new to be correctly detected.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units says it was released Oct. 22, 2010).

Some ideas what could be next steps:
1. try to create a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file manually (instead of aticonfig, use information in the installation guide in your question)
2. investigate if adding some information about that card in the kernel config or kernel source can help
3. search the web
4. wait for upcoming releases to solve that

I should try it.

I typed this command

$ sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and typed this in the xorg.conf
"

Section "Device"
 Identifier "ATI radeon 6870"
 Driver "fglrx"
EndSection

"
I get "unsupported hardware" watermark when in the relese note it says it support my grafik card but it another problem to solve, the driver is working good for now.
Thank you for your support.
