Ubuntu 10.4 does not boot all the time and hangs with an error

Asked by Aaron Remley

The error is:

[ 15.5585941] [drm:rs400_gart_adjust_size] *ERROR* Forcing to 32M GART size (because of ASIC bug ?)

I have to power down the computer, wait a minute then power back up and then Ubuntu boots just fine. This happens about once per day and is annoying, but the work around is to power off and back on.

Please tell the video card do you have.

Open a terminal from applications→accessories→Terminal and type:

lspci | grep -i vga

please copy and paste the result here...

I have found that many people have reported the same error. Is there a fix for it? I would appreciate a response to my question.

Best Regards,

Aaron
