ctrl alt f1-->on tty screen -->"login incorrect"

Hi,
I am new ubuntu user. I wanted to install envy for my ati mobility radeon x1300 gpu. I opened tty with ctrl alt f1.
On this screen whatever i write, answer is same:"login incorrect"

These are afew command that i have tried;
sudo service gdm stop
dir
exit
ttyname

I installed 3 times But after all installitions, i got same result. How can i fix this?

You first have to write your username, for example 'eray'.
Press enter
Then you have to write your password.
Note that you will not see the password you type.
Press enter.
Then insert the commands you need.
