Monitor detection isn't working. Need to change refresh rate

Asked by Todd Jasinski

After I install the ATI drivers Ubuntu will not detect my monitor. I even tried the the latest catalyst version from ATI.com. I cannot go above 85hz. I need to change it to 100hz. I do not have that option. I'm using a Dell P991 monitor (which is really a Sony Trinitron CRT). I'm trying to set my desktop to 1152x864 at 100hz. I'm using a Radeon HD 4870 2GB PCI-E video card. Before I installed the drivers Ubuntu detected my monitor correctly. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04. Any one have any ideas?

That works as a quick fix. Thanks. However, I want to try playing some Windows games with WINE so I need my ATI drivers working correctly.

Can you help with this problem?
