Turned off video in "Ubuntu Software Center" ATI Radeon AGP

Asked by webweave

I was trying to get my ATI Radeon AGP card to drive my wide screen LED display and noticed that there were what seemed like a lot of packages in "Ubuntu Software Center" for cards I didn't have. I turned them off and upon restart I had lost X and could not get it to start. Is there a way to back out the changes I made from the command line or a way to reinstall a video driver from the command line?

Thanks,
Brian

I'm booted from the CD now so I can get at the system from a GUI. Might I be able to run "Ubuntu Software Center" and change the target to the system on another hard drive?

Enter using the recovery mode, select the last option (I think it is called root shell)
and once there run

apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-all
