Touchpad does not work when Ubuntu wakes from sleep mode on Dell Vostro V13

Asked by Kedar Apte

Hi,

I have a Dell Vostro V13 Laptop with 4 GB RAM. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit on this laptop. Everything works well except for the trackpad, which does not work, when the laptop is brought out of sleep mode. Normally, I do not switch off my laptop when I leave office. When I leave for the day, I just close the lid down. When I open the laptop lid to start working, the mouse track pad does not work. The key board works. External mouse connected through USB also works. But the trackpad does not work. The only option to make it work is to do a reboot. Once the laptop reboots, the trackpad starts working. It is annoying to keep on rebooting the laptop to get the mouse trackpad to work.

Any help is appriciated

Before you hibernate, can you run:

lsmod; lsb_release -a; uname -a

and give the output

Thanks

Basically your touchpad doesn't like being hibernated so we need to make accommodations, it's not hard. We just need to unload and reload the module at wake up

Can you help with this problem?
