touchpad of lenovo R61i does not work after insallation of Ubuntu

Asked by noach schattner

I downloaded the most recent Ubuntu operating system and am using it along side Windows 7. When I use Ubuntu the touch pad of my Lenovo R61i does not work, forcing me to plug in an external mouse. Actually I did notice the touch pad works up until I log in the beginning. I haven't taken any steps except look for drivers on the Internet which was of no avail. I'm also new to linux.

I did press Fn + F3. This seemed to enable the mouse. Thanks!
