Looking for a program towards using the USB 3G Modem for calling purpose

Asked by Triyambakesh on 2011-11-07

I am using a Mobile Broadband USB Modem 3G stick (Huawei E173) in my Laptop for accessing internet. Unlike Mobile partner program that has the telephony interface in it, I am looking for a similar interface in my Laptop (Acer aspire 5740, core i5) + Ubuntu 11.10 OS, from where i can make/ receive calls, check balance in my SIM and access contact info. Can anyone suggest me with such program if its available for using the Modem as telephony? Thank you

Dear friends, I am basically a beginner although i am using ubuntu since last 2 years. Can you help me with details how to install the interface into Ubuntu 11.10? Please simplify the commands and what will be their outputs with a short description will be much more easy to me. Kindly make this program in a algorithm format describing chronologically one by one step. Thank you.
