Asus EeePC 1005HA, 10.04.2, no touchpad control

Asked by Allan Bigham

With an Asus Eee PC 1005HA and ubuntu 10.04.2, the control switch for the touchpad is inoperative, and the touchpad is permanently active. The switch is operative in Win7 so not a hardware fault. At present I'm running 10.04 from a USB memory stick, and want to resolve this prior to a full install.

Try:

gconftool-2 –set “/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled” –type integer “1″

Does that help?

Many thanks for your suggestion....on the 1005HA I didn't have any success with it, I am not too competent in the Terminal, and ended up doing the following:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad

I used the program Touchpad-Indicator by Lorenzo Carbonell as detailed on the above site, it gives the choice of toggling the touchpad on/off, and it works for me. Regards
