Dell Inspiron 2650 keyboard not working in 10.10

Asked by Mark Pollock

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 with Edubuntu enhancements on a Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. Initially, the kayboard and mousepad did not work in Ubuntu. I can use the keyboard in the grub menu at startup, and I have configured grub to set acpi=off at startup. (I entered this command in 10_linux after the recordfail line.)

The keyboard and touchpad worked briefly for a couple of starts after I made the acpi=off entry, but now they no longer work. USB kayboards and mice work fine, but I would like to get thye actual keyboard working again.

Thanks!

Dell have a sweet BIOS upgrade facility for Linux systems :)
