Ubuntu 10.04LTS touch pad pointer wiggles on screen

Asked by Nick A.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS has an issue with the synaptics driver. I am running a Compaq Presario X1012QV 1.3GHz laptop. When my finger rests on the touch pad the pointer wiggles 3 pixels side to side, very annoying. Keeps doing it as long as your finger is on the pad. Tried all fixes from past versions of Ubuntu but 10.04 is much different. I tried WinXP and Mandriva, problem does not exist on those OS's.

Try the boot options:

i8024.reset
and/or
i8024.nomux=1
and/or
irqpoll

Windows not experiencing the issue is of zero value but Mandriva not doing it is very useful as they are the same OS.

Try the boot options, it may help
