touch pad of laptop not working

1)I am using Lenovo Y500 laptop. I have loaded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. But my touch pad and right & left click buttons are not working. How do I fix this problem. OEM has not provided any driver for Ubuntu. Please help me.

2) Also how do I open my PDB files and RAR files in Ubuntu? Is there any software which I need to download. Please guide me.

To address RAR files, install rar unrar p7zip-full p7zip-rar

Your touchpad you can try the following boot options:

i8024.reset
i8024.nomux=1
irqpoll

Those are good at making touchpads work

You will need to add them in /etc/default/grub

You will need to run:

sudo update-grub

after each test.
