Touchpad mouse will not work on Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook for Gateway LT Series

I have a brand new Gateway LT Series Netbook, running Windows 7 Starter and Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook. On Ubuntu, I can move the pointer with my wireless mouse, but nothing happens when I click anything. When I try to use the touchpad, the pointer spazzes and jumps all over the screen, randomly clicking this and that. I've tried restarting, to no avail. I've unplugged and replugged the wireless mouse in, and nothing changes.
