Hardware Bug/malfunction with Ubuntu 10.04 on HP Pavillion dv6000
Hello!
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000, and there is a major problem with the touch pad. At the top central portion of the pad, there is a button to disable the mouse while typing. This worked fine when I was running Windows (dark ages), but in Ubuntu if I accidentally hit it, my computer all but crashes. If I hit it again to reactivate the mouse, my keyboard is disabled for the rest of the time my computer is on. There is no way to shutdown my computer either. No menu will open after I touch the button.
Also, when I log back in, if I have been on OpenOffice writer, it says I can only open the file I was working on in read only because it was edited by (unknown user). Additionally, when I open the document, all the text is missing.
Any ideas? what is the best way to report this bug? or is this adequate enough?
Thanks!
