Need a trackball driver

Asked by Paul E. Meyers

I have a Kensington Orbit Trackball with Scroll Ring and it is not compatible with Ubuntu 11.10. Is there a driver available to make it work with your operating system?
Thank you,
Paul E. Meyers

How does it connect to the system?

I apologize for not replying sooner. Apparently your message was in my spam folder.
The Trackball connects by a standard USB port.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this. There is nothing in the owner's manual that specifies what this means.

If you unplug it then plug it back in and rerun the command, is the output different?

I don't have it plugged in because it doesn't work with Linux Ubuntu 11.10. That is why I need the driver. I'm still using my mouse. I much prefer trackballs, my old one broke and I purchsed this one because it has the scroll ring which the old one didn't. When I discovered that it was not compatible with the Linux Ubuntu 11.10 operating system I looked in the Linux softwsre center and couldn't find a driver for the device. That is when I sent the message asking if one was available. Should I plug it in and see if the information you requested changes?

Plug it in and rerun the lsusb command, it will show the device and we can find guides.

Can you help with this problem?
