The pointer on my laptop gets struck .

I use Ubuntu 11.10 , The pointer/cursor on my laptop gets struck in the middle of some thing important. It doesn't happen always but it happens often and i had restart the laptop again and again to get back to work. Please help me to resolve this this Thank you.

Is the RAM healthy? You can test the RAM from the Grub menu (hold SHIFT at boot)

If you see any red then the RAM is BAD

what is grub menu I don't know ?but when i was on the screen from where i had to select whether to get into windows or ubuntu I pressed shift and some kind of checking happened and then finally i was taken to ubuntu. I didn't see any thing RED ..so i guess its all fine. I am little new to all this stuff so please excuse my ignorance about terminologies. Thank you

yes I have installed using Wubi.. now i want to completely shift to ubuntu but i don't know how and I am not sure what will happen to my important data on my laptop. Wubi yes.

If you boot to liveCD or liveUSB you can run a memory test there.
