10.10 mouse wont click on some areas after update

The mouse seems to click on the ububtu icon on the top left hand side and that is about it. it does not seem to work in any other application. i just did an update on 10.10 on a asus 1015 netbook, flash 11 was one of the updates i belive. i am VERY new to ubuntu/linux so please explain as best as you can thank you very much for your time
