Dissapearing Mouse

Asked by Ann Chovie

I have Ubuntu 11.04. Randomly, the cursor will disappear. I have no idea why this is happening. When I restart, it will come back. It seems to happen mostly after I type in my password to get in after it goes to sleep.

This is a known bug. You may add yourself to the "affects me" list in bug 615938. I have found the only workaround for me is to enable the proprietary Nvidia video driver.

Using the classical interface (select this just before logging in with your username), select the menu item System/Administration/Additional Drivers. If you have proprietary video drivers available, they should be listed there. Select the "current" or the latest one, and reboot. You probably should be connected to the internet (via a wire if necessary) so any downloads may be perfomed from the vendor site.

Adding yourself to the bug -- Near the top of the bug description, there is a question "This bug affects xx people, does this affect you" followed by a little yellow circle, click on the circle and click on the yes button.
