Mouse issue with Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition on Dell Latitude D600

Asked by Madhubabu-alasyam

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to Linux/Ubuntu world, fresh apart from Windows. I have installed Ubuntu netbook edition (10.10) on to my Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Every thing is working fine, except the mouse.

The mouse works in all areas except in the left side buttons (may be we call it task bar). It works in the empty area of the task bar, but in the buttons area, on mouse movement, the whole screen is getting refreshed.

Any ideas what I need to do to fix this? Now I spent a good 6 hours searching the forums, with no luck. I believe you guys are the last resort.

Plenty of thanks for your help.

try the boot options:

i8024 reset
or
i8024.nomux=1
or
irqpoll

These help great with touchpads

Thanks for the reply actionparsnip.

As you know I'm a rookie, I do not know where to enter the boot options. I searched in internet and in Ubuntu boot options page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions). As I advised in that there is no menu.lst file in /boot/grub folder.

Can you please advise the procedure to update the boot options?

Thanks in advance
Madhu

I have wiped out everything and reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10.

Worked a treat...

Thanks for your time.
