Why isn't "Emulate3Buttons" set to "false" by default?

Asked by klerfayt

This is problematic for FPS games. How is it more useful then enabled by default?

Who clicks two buttons at the same time on purpose?

Disclaimer: Not a xserver dev !

Linux has always been built with the smallest number in mind, as in memory, cpu etc. It get's by with as little as it can. I would say, based on that, that is the reason the dev's felt that you will have a two button mouse, instead of a three button one.

I would also add that X will generally detect a 3 button mouse and that evdev is only needed (imho) when you have a "weird" mouse. If you load evdev, you know how to change it :)

Also, as Steve pointed out, notebooks generally have 2 buttons.

Just mho :)

Can you help with this problem?
