screen resolution

Asked by John Wilson

When I first installed Ubuntu the default screen resolution was 1280x1024 and somewhere along the line it has been changed to 800x600.
Here is the output of lspci:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M266 Host Bridge
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8633 [Apollo Pro266 AGP]

Hi Gord,
I tried working through the work through and something went wrong. I ended up loosing the graphical interface. As I am still in the sand box I had to reinstall Ubuntu which is OK. Sorry I also lost the xorg.conf and Xorg.9.log files.
So far in the rebuild (I have installed jpilot) the bug has not reappeared. If it does I will be intouch.
Regards,
John
