Are you using Wubi installer ? In this case, could you, in this forum, link this question to project "wubi". This will post this question to the three local experts.

I have just come over to linux and very impressed when it works but i have the same problem usually when I'm surfing the net.
The mouse and keyboard cease to function and I have to press reset and reboot when all is fine again.
I have also tried Mint version which also has the same problem.
Running on Pentium dual core E6500 @2.93GHz and 3gig ram which is 3 weeks old.

Do you have same problem with Windows ? I have this kind of problem with both Windows and Ubuntu, and so I know it's an hardware issue (I added a hard disk and probably I have a temperature or electrical tension problem).
Else it can be an issue related to graphic card.

My problem only happens in ubuntu and not on windows XP.
I put this on my sons laptop and it rus perfecly for hours so not sure if its hardware or software.

If it's not hardware, usual suspect is graphic card driver. Check if you have free or proprietary driver and switch to the other one.
