does Ubuntu 10.04 have support for Nvidia gtx 480M?
I am purchasing a brand new laptop / notebook, a Clevo D900F, which will arrive in 2 weeks (damn you malibal and your back-order delay).
The hard-drive is quite big by my standards (350gb), and I decided that this would be a good opportunity to finally try linux.
So my question is, will Ubuntu work on this laptop with these exact specs?
I am slightly worried, because I last tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell 2600, and it would not output any video (black screen) though the command line did work.
I am particularly concerned that the laptop's video card is newer than the Ubuntu release, and might not be supported. (it is the M, mobile variant for laptops, which released in may 2010)
Here are the specs for my laptop:
A Clevo D900F (purchased from Malibal) with....
Intel Core™ i7-960, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.2GHz, 64-bit
(6GB) 6144MB, PC3-8500/1066MHz DDR3 - 3 SO-DIMM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480M 2GB GDDR5
4X Blu-ray Reader 8X DVD+/-R DL Super-Multi Drive
Intel 6300 Ultimate-N 802.11A/B/G/N LAN and Bluetooth Card
integrated web-cam
integrated 7-in-1 card reader
Also,
Am I correct in what I assume to be how I should install a dual boot computer?
Put in windows 7, choose to create 2 partitions, then install windows 7 to one partition.
After windows is done, shut down and start up with Ubuntu in the drive, and choose to install Uu on the other partition.
thx guys, i am looking forward to this,
