I cant use 1024X768 resolution

Sir,
 I am a newbie in ubuntu.I have a intel i810e chipset. I dont have any problem to use 1024x768 resolution in windows but in ubuntu i can only use 800x600 and 640x480. Can i use 1024x768 in ubuntu.

If i can how to do it?

please anyone help me i am facing a lot of problem in linux with 800x600 resolution.

This may be because your monitor does not support 1024x768 at a refresh rate of more than 60Hz, which is bad on the eyes, and the X server defaults to the monitor's optimal resolution and refresh rate. In you case that would be 800x600@85Hz.
