Low graphics detail on ATI RADEON 2600XT

When i install the prioritary driver for my ATI RADEON 2600XT i get a very low resolutiondetail, why?
And when i try to open the screen manager the window freezez on half-open?

Please help me!?

sudo aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
