ATI Radeon 9200 Driver Issue

Asked by Jonathan Sample

Being new to Linux and anxious to use Wine to play several of my favourite games, I quickly downloaded, through Synaptic and the Ubuntu Software Center, all the ATI Radeon drivers available for my machine. I'm still receiving a "No supported adapters detected" return when I enter "aticonfig" in Terminal. I attempted this after a failed attempt to access the Catalyst Control Center Linux edition opened a window suggesting a missing or non-functioning ATI driver. I'm also dealing with installed games that will not recognize the graphics card or just cease start up after the initial game window. My question is, what might my system be missing or does anyone have any suggestions for downloads or system maintenance? Thank you.

The catalyst driver doesn't support your chip. You will be using the open source driver.

Can you help with this problem?
