how do i get xgl on my desktop for ubuntu 6.10

i tried every thing to use the xgl grafix on my desk top .. i am new to linux and i dont really understand the language maybe... i love the software and still learning it little by little ... can some one help?????

Note that edgy and feisty have aiglx enabled by default and you don't need to use xgl to run a composite manager
