XScreenSaver 5.14 -11.10

Asked by clombard

How do I remove this program ? It does not work well....
AND it disables "lock screen". The program has to be manually
started every time. Error message "Warning screen saver doesn't
seem to be running"
Now when the screen blanks it just starts again without password.
I activated all the "lock screen" options and it still does not give me the enter password option
when the screen resumes.
Just want to remove this screen saver and wait until a new Ubuntu distribution
will hopefully give us back a SCREEN SAVER!

In a terminal do:

sudo apt-get purge xscreensaver

You should also let the system check for dependencies that are no longer required so do:

sudo apt-get autoremove

This probably won't re-enable the lock screen, so go into "system settings" ---> "screen" and turn the screen lock on.
