xsane package

I need help getting my Canon 3000f working with Ubuntu 9 10.

I used lsusb and got this

Bus 001 Device 017: ID 04a9:2215 Canon, Inc. CanoScan 3000/3000F/3000ex

but xscan says no devices
Also, I went to sane website and it said the canon 3000f is unsupported

any ideas for a newbie to Ubuntu?

"Unsupported" means it won't work. It looks like there have been a few attempts over the years to write a driver, but they haven't gone anywhere yet. I'm afraid you won't be able to use this scanner under Ubuntu.
