Driver for HP scanner

Asked by mike cleverley

I am a newcomer to Linux and Ubuntu.

I am finding the transition quite easy, and very interesting. I have a HP scanjet 3570c flatbed scanner.

The scanner works perfectly scanning documents but I need to scan negatives and slides. I can find no way of making this work.

When I first loaded Ubuntu I did not have to load any drivers Xsane Image scanner worked immediately for documents and photographs. It just does not turn on the light for the slide & negative carrier. It is actually noticeably faster, scanning photographs than it was under windows (using HP's scanning software)

Any assistance would be welcome.

According to Xsane's supported devices database, your scanner falls in the "good" category. This means that it's almost fully supported, but not quite fully supported. You can find more information at this page. http://projects.troy.rollo.name/rt-scanners/

I guess the answer to your question is that you can't scan negatives and slide for the moment. Sorry

Can you help with this problem?
