Scanner of an All-in-one printer not detected

Asked by Alvin Eshe

Installed an Epson WorkForce 635 printer (All-in-one). Printer works fine. Using Simple scan gives me message: "No device available".
X Sane Image scanning program give me message: "No device available". Scanner gives me message: "Communication error".
LSUSB command yields below:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04b8:085dSeiko Epson Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Any and all thoughts are appreciated as to why the two scanning programs cannot find the scanner.

Try installing iscan. You may find files like this:

iscan-data_1.6.0-0_all.deb
iscan_2.26.1-3.ltdl7_i386.deb

They may make it work ok. There may be newer versions now but you basically want iscan & iscan-data

Can you help with this problem?
