Back porting xrdp fix for Bionic?

This xrdp bug was discovered affecting Ubuntu 18.04 users:
https://github.com/neutrinolabs/xrdp/issues/1641

However, the bug was fixed in version 0.9.9, which is not available to Bionic users. The latest version available for 18.04 is 0.9.5-2. If 18.04 LTS is supposed to be supported until April 2023, how are users supposed to get this fix? I assume it's b/c the fix was classified as a "new feature" rather than a bug fix, it's not backported?

You can report a bug with:

ubuntu-bug xrdp

Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and packages can be left unupdated in favour of one's with bigger issues.

You may also find a PPA here on Launchpad.net:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=xrdp

Remember to filter the PPA for your release as not all PPAs support all releases.
