How to add newer version of xournal?

Asked by Milan Jaros

Good day,
please, can you tell me how can i add newer version of xournal to http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/xournal ? I have it installed already, but what about others who can't do that? If you tell me how, I will do that, thank you.

Hello Milan

You can update a package

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Recipes/PackageUpdate

Or the latest version will be backported into hardy in a few days.. The package was not updated because feature freeze was in effect fron feb14th in the hardy release cycle

So you can wait for a few days..

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Feature freeze exceptions specifically include bugfixes. As far as I know, when I provided a bugfix for 0.4.1 in mid-March it wasn't too late. Especially when the bugfix has been written specifically to correct problems that come up in Ubuntu Hardy and to my knowledge not in any other Linux distribution (since the other distributions have mostly stuck to versions of X.org and linuxwacom that have actually been tested and checked carefully). Even when I released 0.4.2.1 in late March it shouldn't have been too late since 0.4.1 is broken in Hardy.

Will either the bugfix for 0.4.1 or the upgrade to 0.4.2.1 make it into Intrepid, or am I complaining too late for even that?
It's nice that Ubuntu packages xournal, but if it keeps packaging versions that are missing critical bugfixes that's not a service to the community.
