VLC player No Sound

I hd installed VLC its all done correctly i hope .... Bt while playin any stream video/Audio thr is no sound only Video is displayed , Same Audio/Video files Are playin gud on other default players given in Ubuntu 9.04

If using pulse audio, there is a plugin in e.g. Synaptic.
Or CLI:
sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-pulse

i hd tried usin all output modules Default , ALSA , UNIX OSS Nd pulse-audio
,even done ur suggested install :
sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-pulse
Nothin helped , thr's No problem in sound usin Totem player and Rhythmbox music player bt still i need my fav. Player wrkin Nicely .... While Usin VLC on Windows i dont xperience any problem !!

Sounds like misconfiguration setting within VLC.
Hence either you may go through the settings or remove complete and reinstall.
sudo apt-get purge vlc
sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install vlc
