installed xubuntu 8.10 and it won't boot

installed xubuntu 8.10 on slave drive (3gig) of my PC with CPU speed of 2.13GHz and ram size of 480 MB, it also had a pre-existing os (windows xp). i can boot windows xp from grub but i can't with xubuntu, i get a blank screen with this line:

Boot from (hd1,0) ext3 7aa77edd-5d27-48f3-910d-5db7e88b7f53

any help is greatly appreciated.

did a reinstall and this solved my problem.
