I installed Ubuntu 8.10, then changed touchpad to usb mouse, can't get it back. Bigger problem now, installed Windows XP, partition w/ Ubuntu won't open
I am not a computer guru and I don't know exactly what I did. I have an old Dell laptop from ebay..lol for $5.00, yes it works! Installed Ubuntu 8.10, changed the touchpad to usb for mouse, then couldn't get it back. Never was able to access archives, install my netgear wireless. Tried everything. So my bf installed Windows XP..I told him about partitioning, but to no avail. Ubuntu became a healthy partition that I couldn't access - well I could've formatted it, but no reformat. In any event, I deleted logical drive it was presumely on. My problem is that I have no idea how to get my touchpad back without Ubuntu. I don't think I have enough memory for both operating systems. I would like to know how to do that also. I think we had a bad Ubuntu disc; I'll get another from your site - bf got this one from Japan...lol. In a nutshell, I'm up and running on Windows XP, have no idea where Ubuntu went and want to know how to get back to using touchpad now. And also would like to know why the partition Windows is on is using over 4 gig. Is windows that big? I don't think so. I've explored all open files, can't find Ubuntu.
