Screen Resolution problem for login screen

Asked by EthanH

Hello,
I'm just wondering how i would change my default screen resolution for the login screen. I just downloaded the restricted driver for my computer. Its working fine except for the login screen. The screen resolution is too high for my moniter to support it. I want to set it on 1280 x 1024. I have been researching online how to change it. After i been researching online, i starting to know i have to change the xorg file on my computer. But when i look at it, I cant find how to change the screen resolution. Here is my xorg...

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Hi,

Change your screen section:
Section "Screen"
 Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]"
 Device "aticonfig-Device[0]"
 Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]"
 DefaultDepth 24
 SubSection "Display"
  Viewport 0 0
  Depth 24
 EndSubSection
EndSection

To something like:
Section "Screen"
 Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]"
 Device "aticonfig-Device[0]"
 Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]"
 DefaultDepth 24
 SubSection "Display"
  Viewport 0 0
  Depth 24
  Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
 EndSubSection
EndSection

And play with the "Modes" line...
