Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. In the first place I opened recovery mode at the start up, I was reluctant to click 'xfix Try to fix Xserver' because I thought that 'server' is something to do with internet service provider. Then I posted the question on this forum. I read some replies and tried the tips, but I couldn't find the solution. So I resorted back to the recovery mode and clicked 'xfix' just for a see. BINGO!!! It worked!! Wow so much new things to learn. I am still learning Ubuntu and I am sticking to it! Thank you for your attempt to help me solve the problem. Jim
