starting in upstart mode but not in normal graphical mode

Asked by Dharmendra Mishra

I have Ubuntu 16.04.1 upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 but every time I start the computer it starts in console mode.
After login and rebooting it starts in advance mode and starts in "upstart mode". I am new to Ubuntu.

Manfred, the link you provided here sends me to a similar problem reported by me, which contains a link you provided that sends me here - circular reference! Do you know of a solution to this problem?

I have almost the same problem. A complete cold start (boot after pulling power) using Systemd results in a blank screen. Re-booting to Systemd after successful boot using "upstart" results in console mode. Booting using "upstart" always works.

Sorry for the wrong question reference in my first posting. I did not want to create a reference to your own posting, but to another one, see #2.

You might try setting upstart as default, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SystemdForUpstartUsers#Permanent_switch_back_to_upstart

Yes, I know I can reset the default to "upstart." But since Systemd is supposed to be the long-term solution, do you know to fix Systemd so that I don't have to go back to "upstart?" How does one go about reporting this problem to the Ubuntu team?

Oh, I see dharmen-mishra has already reported the problem.

Can you help with this problem?
