xorg crash at startup

Asked by Philippe Stuck

Each time I start my computer, I got the black screen for terminal login, when I restart (alt-ctrl-suppr) ubuntu starts well with the crash report window for package « xorg-server ». (If I restart from ubuntu, the problem does not appear.)

Try the boot option:

nomodeset

You can use this to get fully updated.

Thank you,
I tried to set the nomodeset boot option but the computer did not start anymore (black screen) after this change. But I did a boot repair (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/boot-repair) from a live CD and the xorg problem doesn't seem to happen any more now.
