Smplayer sound 2 to 3 mins in front

Asked by Rich.b

The sound when playing back a Get_iPlayer download is 2 to 3 mins in front of the picture, very confusing.

How do I correct this please

Thanks

Are you using KDE? I do not know
Are other players the same? VLC was slightly out of lip sync by a few seconds......But since installed Bumblebee it will not work and only shows the start of (download using Get_iPlayer) the first frame with title.

What is the output of:

lsb_release -a; apt-cache policy smplayer

richard@richard-desktop:~$ lsb_release -a; apt-cache policy smplayer

You are using Gnome, why install a Qt based frontend to mplayer when gnome-mplayer exists, it will do the same job and not haul in 200Mb (approx) of packages. I suggest you install gnome-mplayer and try that

Thanks Andrew.

I think that you are right.

 I have mplayer installed.

Does that mean that Movie Player is the same as mplayer? Which has played back 3 different video sources OK.

I would like to cleanly remove SMPLAYER and possibly BUMBLEBEE as it seam to have caused a problem with VLC with now does not work, starts playing back a video but only the first frame or so and no sound.
Also I can't remove the VLC Icon at the top of the screen. I have uninstalled and re installed. still the same problem.

As well the above there is Banshee. Enqueue in SMplayer and Spotify installed.

I would like to use VLC if possible, what you advise?

Thanks for any help.

Movie player is Totem. If you right click the icon then 'quit' or 'exit' should be an option. You can uninstall anything you desire using software cente4
